Anxiety and Depression can be brutal and seem incredibly overwhelming, but they don't have to control your life or define you as a person! You are so much more than your illness, and yes, it is an illness, and there are things that you can do to feel better. You are NOT your anxiety and depression! It is something that you are experiencing, but it is not who you are! Think about your hopes and dreams, about your goals for your future. Think about all those who love and care about you. Realize that your illness is only a part of your life experience not the whole picture. Focus on the good and positive in your life, instead of the negative.

Depression and Anxiety are like two ugly heads on the same monster, and they can both be very debilitating. When an anxiety disorder escalates out of control, simple fears can suddenly become huge. With anxiety, the fear can become consuming. It is generally a fear that makes no sense to anyone else, so you may have a difficult time finding anyone that you feel comfortable sharing with.. With depression instead of a huge consuming fear, you can experience a complete sense of hopelessness, that there is no joy in life, and no hope for anything better. Often, anxiety and depression come together and you may feel anxious and hopeless at the same time.
Someone suffering with depression isn't sad in the sense that most people experience "sadness", like the way one feels with a death or a loss. It can come on for no reason, and feel so all consuming and hopeless. Very often people tend to suffer in silence. They can't understand it , so how can they expect someone else to. These feelings can be severe, a complete void of joy, as if you are spiritually dead or dying. Everyday can be a sense of going through the motions, doing the things you know that you are supposed to do, but there is no desire to do anything, even things you once loved to do. You watch others living life and feel as if you are on the outside looking in. You wonder why everyone else is feeling normal and you are feeling nothing! This feeling of hopelessness can come in many degrees. It may be just occasional, or day in and day out consuming. You may feel as if there is no joy, no hope, and no reason to look forward to anything. It wouldn't matter if you won the lottery because you have no capacity to feel joy. It can feel like a spiritual void.
Healing anxiety and depression can take a lot of patience. Years of neglecting our bodies with poor nutrition and subjecting them to immeasurable amounts of chemicals in our daily lives through the food we eat and products we use can take a toll. We need to learn to love and respect our bodies by nourishing our bodies properly, exercising and avoiding as many chemicals as possible. Also, by taking the time we need for ourselves emotionally and spiritually. Getting our bodies into balance physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually can bring about true healing.

You don't always need a plan, sometimes you just need to breath, trust, let go and see what happens. --Mandy Hale
